IAR S.A. – 90 years of tradition
- Founded in 1925 – as a joint venture with Bleriot-Spad and Lorraine-Dietrich French groups
- 1927 – 1944 : IAR manufactured more than 1,000 a/c and 2,000 engines
- 1942 : 7,000 employees, 1 a/c per day
- Since 1968 IAR has produced: 368 helicopters; 140 airplanes; 820 gliders and motor gliders.
- Since 1971, IAR has produced more than 200 IAR 316B Alouette III helicopters under the license of Aerospatiale (ex Eurocopter, now AIRBUS Helicopters) of which 75 exported in different versions.
- Since 1974, IAR has produced 330 L Puma helicopter under the license of Aerospatiale (ex Eurocopter, now AIRBUS Helicopters): 167 Puma helicopters produced (61 delivered to export); 50 complete structures (exported)
